Charter Fishing and Fly Fishing on Martha’s Vineyard

Cape Cod and Martha’s Vineyard in particular, offers some of the finest saltwater fishing in the Northeast. The beautiful beaches and tidal flats are renowned for their record- breaking stripers, bluefish, bonito and false albacore. The fishing season begins in May and runs to late October. If going on a charter boat, it is advisable to make your reservations early as prime dates book fast. Kids and adults regularly catch Striped Bass (up to 60 pounds) and Bluefish (up to 20 pounds). The fishing action on Vineyard Sound is fast and exciting!

May and June are great months to catch your first Bluefish or Striped Bass on a fly rod! By mid-May large bluefish move in, and large and school striped bass fill the rips around the Island.

Kids are welcome on the various charter boats that leave Edgartown every morning to fish. All equipment is provided (usually bring your own lunch). This is open ocean and you can get seasick, so plan accordingly and always bring a jacket or sweatshirt in case a cool fog rolls in.

No license is required for salt water fishing in Massachusetts.
